A QUESTION OF TRUST – A QUESTION OF HOW?

News broke this week that the founder of the UK’s biggest toy chain, the Entertainer, is handing over control of his business to his 1,900 workers. Mr Gary Grant opened his first shop in 1981 and his multi million pound empire spans 60 branches across the UK. He is transferring 100% ownership of the business to an Employee Trust which means staff will get a share of the profits and a say in how the firm is run.
Not all our clients can afford to set up a Trust but there are growing signs of TRUST between bosses and workers through the election of representative Employee Forums. Our training courses on this topic for bosses and workers in private, public and not for profit sectors have soared in the last 12 months. Sometimes these elected bodies run alongside trade union arrangements. Sometimes with no union members in a workplace they operate directly with management. Properly structured with clear remits they do work very well.
In the last 12 months, topics discussed and taken forward by elected forums in positive engagement with management have included:-
